Our story begins in 2015.
Yongshuo and I are working 10 hours a day, and we spend more than 2:30 am in public transport every day. A frantic pace, in the great Asian megalopolis of Hong Kong. Like many others with this way of life there, we have little time for ourselves, our family and our friends.
Our physical well-being and mental health were literally in danger.
I was risking burn out. Today with hindsight I see the chance that I had at the turn of the year 2015. If I had not had this click, I would have been another victim of this scourge.
Before the situation was critical, we decided to go and visit Asia. We needed a need for freedom.
We wanted to go back to simple things, regain a taste for life. Observe sunrise and sunset. Touching stones, trees, feel flowers. In a word, feeling re-connected to life.
This spiritual quest led us to study Confucianism, Buddhism and Hinduism. Little by little we started to find our way.
It was in 2016 that we revealed. We met "Tenshin", a Buddhist monk who explained to us the importance of having a personal benchmark, of a marker.
Something unique to each individual, a symbolic object that could become a touchstone, an anchoring.
And all of a sudden it was clear as rock water:
Sharing our passion for Buddhism, Zen and Meditation, Art, Jewelry and Decoration on the Internet and allow thousands to see their lives change, to do the same route as we were our mission.
Passionate about art, history and culture, but not being "artists" or "creators", we want to make known to the world the works of arts and creations of small artists and artisans.
All typical and authentic products in Asia have a special history and use on well-being, on spirituality. These products are not made simply for their aesthetics, they are the symbols of Asian spirituality and each have a deep meaning.
We then started working to show this desire.
It was not easy at the start. Our path was marked out with obstacles.
We first had to find quality craftsmen and artists. We wanted to propose from the start of the high of ranges, and change the perception of the “made in China” in the West. We did not want to sell "chinoiseries" as it was common to hear.
Many of our partner craftsmen are the fruit of meetings made during travel through Asia. These are artists that we discovered and with whom we have a relationship of trust. They understand that our mission is to make their art known and last.
Once we were able to collaborate with the good craftsmen, it was not yet won!
By embarking on this adventure, Yongshuo and I took a real risk.
On the Internet, craft and traditional quality products are sometimes overlooked at the depends of “low -end” products, and large audiences, made in the factory. These same products are found in supermarkets or certain specialized stores.
Obviously, this perpetuates the a priori negative regarding the quality of Asian products.
We had to fight these two problems at the same time.
But we had our love as a compass, and the compass pointed east.
The ultimate goal was to share our vision and our love of Asia, its culture and especially products with multiple virtues of which Asia is so full.
To get there we had to set up a real strategy and work hard.
We have developed a strict and rigorous selection process of our partners.
Today all our products come from fair trade and responsible.
We are one of the rare online stores that can affirm this.
We bet on quality and not quantity.
We have even recently created a warehouse in order to be able to store products, photograph them and deliver them more quickly.
We do everything that is our power to offer you an unforgettable and personalized experience.
You can contact us by email and phone, and some of our collections are even guaranteed for life.
But you certainly know, going up and managing an online store is not a simple thing. We have competitors who sometimes show little ethics.
In recent years we have thus seen an increase in unfair competition.
Many sites are promoting “handmade” products today which are in fact poor quality products made in the factory.
Our passion and our seriousness still make an undeniable difference, and the last three years, we have managed to unite a cosmopolitan community of enthusiasts of Asian culture and well -being. Which even earned us to be quoted in prestigious magazines (Madame Le Figaro, Marie France, Yoga Journal, Museum of Asian Art in Paris ...)
The best is to come for craftsman from Asia.
Today at Artisan d'Asie we are sure we have a bright future ahead of us. We are committed to helping all human beings to find a way to reconnect to themselves. Each piece that we propose aims to forge a personal link with the one who wears it, in order to become a benchmark to which he can come back constantly, while he tries to conquer the many milestones of a richer spiritual life.
