Shakyamuni Buddha is an Indian prince and heir to the Shakyas, a family whose kingdom was near the Himalayas. He renounced the throne and his princely life to devote himself to finding a solution to the suffering of human beings.
Engaging in a spiritual quest, he achieved enlightenment after deep meditation under a tree, and traveled all over India to share enlightenment. It was later that he was called Buddha, which means "awakened" in Sanskrit. Shakyamuni Buddha is considered by all forms of Buddhism to be the "Pure and Perfect Buddha".
Completely handcrafted, this statue of Shakyamuni Buddha is made from copper originating in China.
